IQNA – A Russian Quran memorizer said Muslims in the country face no limits in their Quranic activities.

Russian memorizer Burhanddin Rahimov took part in Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition

Burhanddin Rahimov, who took part in Iran’s 40th International Quran Competition last month, made the remark in an interview with IQNA, adding that since the collapse of the Soviet Union, Quranic activities have been growing in Russia.

The Soviet government not only did not support such activities but imposed restrictions on them as well and Muslims, like followers of other faiths, faced many difficulties in their religious activities in that era, he noted.

However, after the fall of the Soviet Union, a wave of Quran translation and interpretation and other Quranic activities began in Russia, he stated.

There are now many Quran translations and interpretations in the Russian language, he went on to say.

Also Muslims can go to mosques and Islamic centers without any problems and teach Quranic and Islamic courses, according to Rahimov.

He said Quranic activities in his country can be divided into three major groups, the first one being Quran teaching.

And the third involves activities related to Quran printing, publication, translation and interpretation, Rahimov said.
